Name for the Gnome

A suitably silly and pretentious name has been chosen; meet Lord Fluffy Erdgeist Superbius, guardian of Toad Henge and his flock of dabbling ducks.

Although it does seem late to be moving plants around, the temperature is mild and nothing appears to have suffered for the relocation. I keep looking to see if anything has moved into the pond but there is nothing visible. The water looks good and clear, and a few webs are visible along with some very small flying things. I have resisted the curiosity to root around Toad Henge to see if there is a resident. It would be very rewarding to know for certain that anything had made use of these ‘facilities’ available to them. I have had a great deal of satisfactions creating habitats for wildlife; it indicates a new direction for my life.

All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!

Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim —
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.

Every one for what he likes!
We like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!

High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call —
We are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!
